Cardiothoracic Surgery Network
CTSNet is a collaborative effort of the
major cardiothoracic
organizations around the world to provide a comprehensive, web-based
repository of information for surgeons. More than 40 organizations
participate in CTSNet and have formed a unique electronic community of
cardiothoracic surgeons. Every day, thousands of surgeons access this
information resource from computers in their offices and homes to
research cases, communicate with colleagues, explore the field's
journals, investigate devices, find out about meetings, engage in lively
discussions, and conduct private electronic meetings.

The Society is directly involved in issues of concern to all thoracic
surgeons, including Professional Affairs, STS National Database,
Nomenclature and Coding, and Standards and Ethics.

This web site is published by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery for
prospective candidates for examination, and others who are interested,
to outline the rules and regulations established by the Board in
conformity with its policies.

Congenital Heart Surgeons' Society Data Center
The Congenital Heart Surgeons’ Society (CHSS) is a group of 70 pediatric
heart surgeons who meet once a year to discuss problems of mutual
interest in patient management.

Society for Heart Valve Disease
The objects of the Society are to undertake, promote, support and
encourage research, and the education of the public, in the causes of
heart valve disease, the prevention of, and the treatment of heart valve
disease or any related cardiac disease, illness or condition.

Southern Thoracic Surgical Association
Disseminate knowledge, encourage research and report at the annual
meeting, scientific session and postgraduate course on the advancements
within the field of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery.

ideas and information relating to the education of thoracic surgery
residents;
2. assist in the identification and
solution of educational and administrative problems that may arise in
the conduct of thoracic surgery residency programs; and,
3. serve as the advocate of resident
education in the various professional agencies, boards, councils and
committees that influence the specialty of Thoracic Surgery.

in Thoracic Surgery that have been approved by the Accreditation Council
on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). These individuals shall
hereinafter be referred to as the Directors.
To hold scientific meetings for the
presentation and discussion of topics of interest to thoracic and
cardiovascular surgeons and to encourage publication of these
proceedings.

The American College of Surgeons is a scientific and educational
association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality
of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical
education and practice.

Society of University Surgeons
The object of the Society shall be the advancement of the art and
science of surgery by: (1) the encouragement of its members to pursue
original investigations both in the clinic and in the laboratory; (2)
the development of methods of graduate teaching of surgery with

Association for Academic Surgery
The Association For Academic Surgery is widely recognized as an
inclusive surgical organization. The impetus of the membership remains

European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery
The main objects of the Association are to advance education in the
field of cardio-thoracic surgery and to promote for the public benefit
research in thoracic physiology, pathology and therapy and to correlate
and disseminate the useful results thereof. Within the EACTS there are
15 committees working on various issues in order to improve
cardio-thoracic surgery.

The International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery was
formed to organize and centralize the various surgical centers concerned
with patient outcomes, techniques, and progressive development of less
invasive forms of heart surgery.
